Majestic K. Funk’s Triumphant Return @ Bubby’s Lounge

I’ll keep this short:

* MAJESTIC K. FUNK

Thursday, Feb. 16th (tomorrow!)
8pm …$5

It’s been nearly two months since ‘K. Funk hit the stage out here in Brooklyn, but I’ve finally gotten them to come up on out of the underground, blink their eyes around in the bright lights, and get down to work. For those of you who have seen them before, I’m sure you’ve been waiting expectantly to get another chance to dance and shake it and chill while Jameel, the midget drummer, keeps the beat steady, and Ty backs up the vocals as the band tears through hit after funky, gritty-city toothless hit. You know what I’m talking about? Because if you haven’t seen them before, this is the time to do it… Majestic K. don’t wait around for no one.

Also performing that night is a special guest named Toni, singing and playing a short acoustic set on her guitar to open the night…

In other news, the calendar is now working. Check it out at www.Bubbys.com. I kept this email short because now you can just hit up the calendar and see what’s happening. A majority of the musicians there (past, present, future) have pretty nice websites, so remineces and keep up with the new stuff, all thanks to Dan Fried.

I’ve been collecting much video and photos as well, but I’ll spare you all the intrusion, as they will hopefully be on the website soon…

We dream of un-confiscated forties, shit-cheap liquor off a plywood bar, smoking inside, bands in the backyard, in the basement, in the bathtub. Out of necessity, we do shows at venues that are pretty lenient by New York standards, but in a perfect world every show would happen at home (in this city of eternal roommates). To get to the nitty-gritty, if you have a space, and think music forcefully shoved inside might work for us both, drop us an email. We can use all shapes and sizes, from pretty little alleyways or back porches for an acoustic kind of good time, or an industrial-looking basement for around 100 kids to spazz the fuck out in…
