Hop Along, Queen Ansleis / Wheatie Mattiasich - Mini-Tour!!
Frances (Hop Along) and her friend Wheatie from Baltimore are doing a three show stint in New York City this week, and the show at Bubby’s Pie Company on Thursday is the last of the three. If one set just isn’t enough to satiate you hunger for more Hop Along, she’s also playing with Michael Tichborne, Hundred Dollar Elephant (of The Medics), and Bubby’s in-house pop duo, The Beets.

“Four year old time traveller”
“Slothful crooner”

Frances makes silly folk songs that might make you smile or sigh. She has two brothers, and they are both drummers. One’s in a band called Hey Hey, and they are great. The other brother is great solo. Frances has a new album out, called “Freshman Year.” If you like stories and singing and yelling and bells and banjos and drums and some kazoo, you might like this. Hope to smile and sigh with you at the next show…

“A contemporary of [Devandra] Banhart, but not
nearly as well known, is Turner Cody from NYC. A
young producer/singer/ songwriter, Turner Cody puts
out thoughtful and interesting music with all the
charm and ingenuity that comes with self-recording.
While Cody continues to write and perform, to date
all of his LPs have been self-released, guaranteeing
him a devoted but very limited following.”

performed with Devandra Banhart)
