Honne Wells @ Bubby’s Pie Company

In preparation for the next collaborative Rocktopus roof party, the Rats Of NiMH are throwing a free ‘lil git-ter-gather at Bubby’s Pie Company in DUMBO. There are going to be a some old folk and blues performances (most notably by Honne Wells, the most snappily dressed throat-singer to ever dredge his guitar out of the swamps of Louisiana), a lot of experimentation with newly acquired video equipment from The Glass Bead Collective (projecting the performances larger than life, screening bizarre animation shorts and strange biology films, etc., etc.) and the resident Quiz Wizard will be dishing out trivia. We want our projects to be as open to input possible, so here’s a chance to catch a drink with friends, enjoy the glittering skyline on downtown Manhattan, and share a slice of pie while we scheme for the winter months. [But seriously… Honne Wells is an unbelievable performer. If you have a moment, listen to anything from any of his links in this email… I doubt you’ve ever heard anything like it.] Honne Wells (a.k.a. Henri Lee) Bubby’s Lounge 1 Main St. 8pm-1am (Yes! 1am. But Honne Wells goes on at 10pm…) $FREE$

We dream of un-confiscated forties, shit-cheap liquor off a plywood bar, smoking inside, bands in the backyard, in the basement, in the bathtub. Out of necessity, we do shows at venues that are pretty lenient by New York standards, but in a perfect world every show would happen at home (in this city of eternal roommates). To get to the nitty-gritty, if you have a space, and think music forcefully shoved inside might work for us both, drop us an email. We can use all shapes and sizes, from pretty little alleyways or back porches for an acoustic kind of good time, or an industrial-looking basement for around 100 kids to spazz the fuck out in…
