Le Rug Rekkid (C.R.E.E.P.) Release Party! w/ The So So Glos / Frankpollis / Heartwarmer / Hysterics @ Death By Audio

By my watch (which is notoriously late), it’s been only a little more than three months since Le Rug put out their debut album. But that hasn’t slowed down Ray Weiss one bit, and Le Rug is just about ready to let loose an entirely new, full-length, album.
It’s called C.R.E.E.P., and (besides that fact that has beautiful cover art showcasing their love for both old-school Kirby AND the demonic fantasies of H.P. Lovecraft) most of it is shrouded in mystery. You can check out some of the new tracks on Le Rug’s MySpace.
We’ve also got Le Rug’s best buddies, The So So Glos, on board, plus touring band from Kentucky, Heartwarmer. Frankpollis (who just opened up for Les Savvy Fav for CitySol last weekend) and Hysterics are also in the fray. Word on the street is this show gonna be “balls out” crazy :)
So crazy, in fact, that we even have the hot up-and-coming music/art/creative shiz networking site SelfPortrait pitching into the fray - (for those of you who don’t know) “Selfportrait.net is an online social network of artists and their peers, as well as a database for galleries, collectors, curators, and other arts institutions. This summer, Selfportrait is hosting a series of art shows in new york city, some in conjunction with Rats Of NiMH, as well as other promoters, collectives, and venues, and all featuring work exclusively drawn from the Selfportrait community.”
The wait has never been this easy. Or hard. Or confusing. Or gratifying. Oh god.

[ INFO. ]
[ LE RUG ]
A pop music exorcism. Ray Weiss (also from Hundred Dollar Elephant and The Medics) channels post-punk fire from somewhere mysterious inside of himself. He must be hollow, because it couldn’t possible fit anywhere else. Double-drum dance solos, electric keyboard freakouts, tearing apart his guitar until he looks like he’s going to vomit… Le Rug starts off every set by doing a nose dive off the roof’s edge, and just keeps gaining speed until the whole room goes splat.

[ THE SO SO GLOS ]
I live amongst the apathetic generation. The hippies without the politics, the punks without the attitude. What are we? Individualistic, pathetic, excuses for humans. We think that we’re something special, when in fact we are all beautifully mediocre. Incredibly so-so. We stand for nothing, care about nothing, talk a lot, and do nothing. Apocalyptic beings waiting for the end, and exploiting what’s left while we are still here. Making sure we look good as the world crumbles in devastation. I am as dim as the lights from the city, a fucking SO SO GLO. Just like you.

[ FRANKPOLLIS ]
“Amidst an impressive set of ethereal slow dives, haunting vocal crescendos, and sugary guitar reverbs, all lassoed by driving drum and bass structures, Frankpollis — whose previous claim to fame was having NYC club kid Jackson Pollis as their drummer — are a young band from Williamsburg, Brooklyn made up of two brothers, James and Jackson Pollis, and John Frank. The band’s dynamic live performance make them a must-see band.” - SPIN Magazine.
[ HEARTWARMER ]
Cute duct-taped kiddies from Kentucky!

[ HYSTERICS ]
“It’s hard for us to describe [our sound], because it’s constantly developing–but I guess we kind of twist ideas about rhythm and stuff, and sometimes we have these time signatures, but it all roots from pop,” said Charlie. “I’d say it’s like a psychedelic, twisted form of pop.”
