The Wailing Wall / Peasant / Bouncer Fighter / Ric Leichtung @ Micheline’s [ Backyard Grass Stage! ]

So, as some of you may know, Micheline’s has this backyard. And as some of you may also know, said backyard has this very cute stage-like construction in the center of this backyard that is entirely covered in grass. This grass is great for lying down on, drinking on, philosophizing on. As some of you may have imagined, it would even make a great place to perform on.
So, to follow through on such thoughts, we’re staging an experiment this weekend to test just such a possibility. Four performers (ranging for the beautiful to the downright bizarre) are going to be performing throughout the evening back there, culminating in what is sure to be another amazing set by Jesse Rifkin and his ever-amorphous project known as The Wailing Wall.
It’s such a great thought, that SelfPortrait.net —> http://selfportrait.net is going to pitch in too, and we’re going to have art hung throughout the space by two of the more notable creative minds on the site; Eric Shaw and Jenna Dublin.
So come early, cruise the pretty pictures, watch some crazy songs, and then join us down in the basement when we start the whole weekend early, too.

[ INFO. ]
[ THE WAILING WALL ]
“Led by songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jesse Rifkin, the Wailing Wall transformed from a very private home recording project into a sprawling collective in October 2005, and they have been playing shows constantly ever since. Based in Bronxville, NY, the Wailing Wall consists of up to ten musicians playing guitar, banjo, mandolin, accordion, viola, glockenspiel, drums, trumpet, bass, harmonica, and whatever else happens to be lying around on any given day. This weekend is a return to origins as Jesse performs an intimate set, much like we all snuck into his house and watched him begin the project in those early days.”

[ PEASANT ]
“A self-produced, basement-recorded artist, showing an incredible amount of natural talent and ambition, Bucks County native Damien DeRose is vying for his seat between Willy Mason and Connor Oberst at the Indie-Acoustic Round Table. Aside from his trusty guitar, he’s been experimenting with a synth and a small electric pump organ he picked up in Lincoln, NE, for $3. The melodies are unique yet familiar and strategically woven into unfolding verses combining the sheen of a professional approach to recording and arranging with something basic and raw.” - Origivation Magazine(http://origivation.com/)

[ BOUNCER FIGHTER —> x-CURIOUS PLEASER ]
“CuRiOuS PleAseR (Caleb Pease) is a rural midwestern boy who moved to the city and stumbled into his own little world of creepy folk music and notebook paper art….he composes performs and records all the sounds on his recordings besides the occasional apperance of other good folks.”

[ RIC LEICHTUNG ]
“A very strange fellow from the deep end of the Brooklyn pool. He may be bringing/playing any or all of the following - Accordions, Autoharps, Bass Guitars, Chord Organs, Cigar Box Guitars, Drum Machines, Glockenspiels, Guitars, Melodicas, Synthesizers, Theremins, Toy Drums, Toy Pianos, Trumpets, Vocals, Wooden Frogs. Don’t be caught off guard.”

[ ERIC SHAW ] <--- Artist
"Drawing and painting well realized monsters, toes, and other species real and made up, Shaw's work is so contemporary and yet so concerned with appropriation that it is hard to believe he isn't making more money than Chris Webber did in college. Eric Shaw has already attained some success in the art world, selling paintings at the Los Angeles Museum of
Contemporary Art."
