Boy Crisis / Titus Andronicus / Le Rug / Snake Vision / Max Steele + The Party Ice / Sigmund Droid @ Don Pedro’s

The avalanche of bands this weekend speaks for itself.

But in case you’re still confused, we’ll be setting up two stages @ Don Pedro’s; an upstairs/downstairs kind of noise game. No iPod shit between sets, no smoke breaks outside (you can chain-smoke in the basement, so no sweat!), just six band, back-to-back blend of dirty, drunken Jerz and sexy, bass-heavy pop rocks. It’s like finding colorful candy just waiting in the gutter… and goddamn does it taste sweet.

[ INFO. ]

[BOY CRISIS]
“I found myself tapping my foot and singing the song in my head. It was as if they had some 24 hour subliminal hypnotism on their myspace page. It was the sort of hunger you have for a song when you can’t get it out of your head until you hear it again.” - It’s The Money Shot! Blog

[TITUS ANDRONICUS]
“I first saw Titus Andronicus on the third floor of a Durham music venue normally reserved for goth and electro throwdowns. It was June and it was hot, the sort of North Carolina night where you hope sweat is sexy because, really, that’s all you’ve got. Titus hit the stage at 9:00 p.m., already pretty drunk and snappy. Like the Hold Steady sans two decades, the five members took half-can hits of beer every time they could get a hand off of an instrument. Frontman Patrick Stickles was falling all over his keyboard two furious takes in, belligerently puffing on a cigar as he played one-hand piano. Still, they hit every mark, nailing noise and debris against shake-and-sing anthems. That’s Titus Andronicus’ ploy– aggressing and endearing audiences as a completely ramshackle crew of Jersey drunks, while somehow triumphing through perfectly clangorous pop songs.” - PitchforkMedia

[LE RUG]
A pop music exorcism. Ray Weiss (also from Hundred Dollar Elephant and The Medics) channels post-punk fire from somewhere mysterious inside of himself. He must be hollow, because it couldn’t possible fit anywhere else. Double-drum dance solos, electric keyboard freakouts, tearing apart his guitar until he looks like he’s going to vomit… Le Rug starts off every set by doing a nose dive off the roof’s edge, and just keeps gaining speed until the whole room goes splat.

[MAX STEELE + THE PARTY ICE]
“I’d hit Max Steele from the back. I mean, I’d have to double-bag it, but whatevs. Even if his music’s boring, he still looks like he’s got an ass I should tap before it collapses. Probably screams like a white lady in bed though.”

We dream of un-confiscated forties, shit-cheap liquor off a plywood bar, smoking inside, bands in the backyard, in the basement, in the bathtub. Out of necessity, we do shows at venues that are pretty lenient by New York standards, but in a perfect world every show would happen at home (in this city of eternal roommates). To get to the nitty-gritty, if you have a space, and think music forcefully shoved inside might work for us both, drop us an email. We can use all shapes and sizes, from pretty little alleyways or back porches for an acoustic kind of good time, or an industrial-looking basement for around 100 kids to spazz the fuck out in…
