Eskaltors / Human Host (B’more represent!) / A Billion Ska Bands / Abstract Artimus / Muggabears / BU&G / J.A.C.K. / ABCDEFGH… all this weekend @ Grand Central

Abstract Artimus is on the above bill, too. Alex (Never Heard Of Zeppelin) had no way of knowing. Sorry Art!

I’m not even gonna say Happy New Year’s. You’ve all already heard it a billion times by now (unless you’re still sleeping off NYE, in which case, this is a perfect time to finally wake up, get a cup of coffee, and start trying to find out what happened to your cell phone, your ipod, and most of your identity two nights ago.
The holiday break I took is being made up for next weekend. There’s Baltimore shit in the mix, a billion ska bands (well, two), BU&G! is on tour, The Muggabears are out from behind the bar at DBA, J.A.C.K. is on board, the acronyms are out and being put to work. 10 bands all up in Grand Central, the closest dive bar to all the hip bars (and the only one that throws all ages shows).
Peeezap.
[ P.S. If anyone needs to rent out a practice space for their band to rehearse in ‘n stuff, lemme know. I got a spot for you ASAP —> 646.239.9288 ]

[ ARTWORK ]
The first poster (Jan 4th) was made by the super cool kid Alex (from Never Heard Of Zeppelin) and is following the long tradition of last minute cat posters everywhere. The second one was even more last moment, and is thanks to my girlfriend (Gabby)’s endlessly creative use of push pins. Check out http://sleepwhendeadnyc.com for more info about this and many other upcoming DIY + all ages shows out in Brooklyn. ]

[ THE FLYING EYES ] <--- B'more!
"The Flying Eyes sound draws from the acid blues and revolutionary air of the 60’s. Over the years, the band has incorporated varied instrumentations — flute, violin, cello – as well a variety of band members, always pushing the group forward to the borders of their creativity. The result is a spirited musical odyssey with rich characters, moods and places all embedded in their songs. Influences range from psychedelic legends such as Pink Floyd, The Doors and Cream but also draw inspiration from the likes of Dead Meadow and Radiohead." - Flying.Space

[ ABSTRACT ARTIMUS ]
“Artimus decided to move to Brooklyn and leave life in Alabama behind. Several versions of an E.P. were released very diy in different homemade packaging over the course of the year. Now a full length version will be released on Crunks Not Dead Records in early 08. Certainly be on the look out for an Abstract Artimus show near you because like many other acts the live show is where it’s at.” - Arti.Space

[ DETONATE ] <--- Texas
"Hailing from Texas, Detonate has been assaulting the US with their fast-paced blend of ska, punk, and hardcore since 2006. Fast raw guitar, galloping drums, violent horn lines, intertwined with rapid-fire vocals." - MRR

I think teenagers shouldn’t be allowed here. They don’t have a clue about life, why are they trying to look smart?
