Cutter (x-The Fugue) / Bottle Up & Go! / Drink Up, Buttercup / J.A.C.K. @ Less Artists / More Condos [ w/ E4E1 ]
If you weren’t at the last LESS ARTISTS / MORE CONDOS show, you missed one of the biggest shows I’ve ever put on, in one of the weirdest places I’ve ever done a show. Across the street from Blue Note, a few feet from the train station, right in the middle of fucking NY Mardi-Gras (ugh!).
Anyway, maybe Cutter’s more your style? Did I mention we’re getting help from that bearded guy who’s at every show and his friend Dave?

“Used to be The Fugue. Now are boxcutters. Will probably call you faggots, but you can take that, right?” - SleepDead

[ BOTTLE UP & GO! ]

“…literally in the crowd, was Bottle Up and Go a guitar/drum two piece with a third wandering Sax player showing up occasionally. Mention must be made of their screeching blues and maniacal playing, giving the feeling of the Black Keys jacked on speed while being kicked in the junk by the MC-5. Sounding at home covering Nick Cave or Leadbelly these guys are worth catching as well.” - Glide Magazine

[ DRINK UP, BUTTERCUP ]

“The Pennsylvania natives completely floored us with their Man Man meets Beatles meets O’Death meets Pink Floyd soundscapes. Drink Up Buttercup’s live show incorporates ample shouting, rich harmonies, chaotic skedaddling and garbage pale demolition into one hypnotic and otherworldly conglomerate. Witnessing the collective’s engaging performance was more than just a breath of fresh air. It somehow managed to lift all jadedness from our respective souls (a truly difficult feat, indeed).” - The Music Slut

“As of this minute Jack is the fucking bar. Their singer wails better than anybody who’s gripped a microphone since membrane was glued to magnets. They take simple melodies to hook you in, and then seconds afterwards they flush them out with vivid breakdowns and a resounding Ikara Colt level-intensity. A band like The Strokes can write a good rock riff, but they never take it where these guys can. That skinny, choreographed male model can’t drop his voice down and impersonate the ghosts of Golden Gate Jubilee Quartette, but Scott Holland can. He can also squeal like a wounded animal and somehow make words of the pained noises.” - Stranded In Stereo
